Chocolate buns
This recipe is used to make cakes and buns. I usually double the recipe and freeze some of the cakes. Reheating them tastes as good and sometimes even better.
For the dough:
1 Kg. all purpose flour (7 cups)
2 Tsp. active dried yeast
3 cups of milk
1/2 cup of sugar
3 large eggs
200 gr. butter
For the filling:
1/2 cup of sugar
2 Tsp. cocoa
1 Tsp. cinnamon (optional)
1/2 cup melted butter- to brush the dough
For the glaze:
1 cup warm milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1. Combine all ingredients in a mixer and knead until dough is pulled from the sides of the mixing bowl.
2. Let rise in a greased bowl, covered in plastic wrap and towel until it doubles in size.
3. When the dough doubles, take out of the bowl, place on a floured surface and punch it to get all the air out.
4. Divide the dough to 9 pieces, using a roller, flatten each one, brush with melted butter, and sprinkle with the powdered filling (be generous- it can only taste better).
5. Roll each piece to create a "cocoa filled snake". Cut inch-wide pieces.
Place each one on a greased pan and brush with the remainder of the melted butter.
6. Bake in a 350 degrees over for 45 minutes or until golden brown.
7. Immediately once the cakes come out of the oven, pour the glaze on them and let cool.
