Meat Burekas

The combination of meat, potatoes and puff pastry is not for the calorie counters among us. Then again, it might be a problem just for me...

1 pack of puff pastry

1 lb. of ground turkey / beef / lamb

2 medium potatoes

1 medium onion or two small onions- one yellow and one red

3 Tsp. olive oil

salt and pepper

1. In a skillet, add olive oil and saute the onions until they become transparent.

2. Add the meat and cook until no longer raw (don't cook all the way- it will be cooked through in the oven later on), then let it cool.

3. Cook the potatoes in hot water until soft.  Strain and let cool.

4. Combine the meat and potatoes, add salt and pepper to taste.

5. Cut the puff pastry to squares, put a teaspoon of the mixture in the middle of each and fold into a triangle.

6. Brush with egg white and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.

7. Bake in a 360 degrees oven for 45 minutes, or until the burekas are golden brown.
