Meat pie

The dough for this pie is a dairy one. originally, I thought of making a cheese pie for shavuot, but realized it would be better to use meat and send it as a school lunch.

For the dough:

3 1/2 cups of self rising flour

1 whole egg + 1 egg yellow (the egg white will be used later)

4 Tsp. of sour cream

200 gr. of soft butter

Salt and pepper to taste

Sesame seeds to sprinkle before baking

For the filling:

2 Tsp. olive oil

2 medium onions- chopped

1 1/2 lb. ground turkey

2 whole eggs

2 Tsp. flour (any kind)

Salt and pepper to taste

1. In a mixer, combine all the ingredients for the dough. Do not over mix, just until all the ingredients integrated well.

2. Divide the dough to two: one part will be used to cover the bottom of the pan.
The other part will be used to cover the filling; wrap it in plastic and place in the fridge until it's time to use it.

3. Cover the bottom of an non greased pan with the dough and tight it well. Create "walls" on the sides to support the dish once the filling will be added.

4. Pre-bake the dough in a 350 degrees oven for 15 minutes.

5. While the dough is baking, prepare the filling: In a skillet, saute the onions  until golden in color. Add the ground turkey and cook for 5-6 minutes.
There's no need to cook the turkey all the way, as it will be baked later.

6. Turn the heat off and let cool. Then, add the eggs and the flour and mix well. Add salt and pepper and taste.

7. When the dough is done pre-baking, Take the pan out of the oven, lay the filling and press to tighten it.

8. Take out the dough from the fridge and using a roller, flatten to a thin layer (about 1/2 a centimeter). Cut to long stripes and lay it on the filling creating a crisscross pattern.

9. Whisk the egg white lest from the dough and brush the dough. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and bake in a 350 degrees oven for 40-50 minutes or until golden-brown.
